I have never used Vista, thank god, but it is listed under Add/Remove Programs then Add/Remove Windows Components?
Its not there!
the add/remove window components is not there in Vista anymore. I have a hard time trying to find the ans too!
disable MSIE
1. Go to your internet properties
2. 'Programs' tab
3. under 'Internet Programs' click on 'Set Programs'
4. There you can choose which program to use (i.e. Firefox)

in the same boat
i am in the same boat as you man...i want to uninstall ie7 or ie8 or whatever for vista home basic...my logic is that since a program was developed to uninstall this stuff for other windows versions and uninstall a lot more..i.e. windows light....we should eventually see something similar for vista...i am looking forward to running a leaner version of vista on my cpu...i like vista but my cpu is pretty basic as far as hardware is concerned and a lighter version would definitely help me...keep searching cyberspace and keep us all updated
